Tales of Valor
Reflections, Advice and Lessons Learned from the Veterans of Northbridge

Throughout the month of November we have collaborated to celebrate the Veterans of Northbridge and the rich history of the amazing men and women living in our communities. Their stories of bravery, dedication and sacrifice are the markings of individuals who have truly lived well and loved life.

Thomas Joseph (TJ) (Resident Autumn Glen)

TJ’s family describes him as having a love of life, laughter and faith and according to his daughter all of them helped her dad deal with loss stoically. During his time in World War II TJ was a gunner on board the USS Baltimore. He is the recipient of 5 Bronze Stars, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon before his honorable discharge in 1946. TJ says that he is hard of hearing today because of the noise he was exposed to as a gunner during World War II.
Lessons Learned:
1. To love life
2. It’s better when you are part of a team, be it sports, or the most important team of all, family.
